Hi all.

One month ago I bought a Mosaic Black 2018 ZL1, and so far I'm absolutely loving it! I was debating between a Shelby, ZL1 or Corvette, and ended up going with the ZL1. The car I traded in was a 2015 Mustang GT Premium Convertible, and there are so many things that the ZL1 does better that it really feels like a BIG upgrade. For example, the windows have a one-touch auto up and the Mustang didn't. There are several little things like that. I don't have any photos to post as everything I've taken has been a video, so I'll get some pictures taken and posted.

As a part of the deal, I got my windows tinted. I went with 15% on the back and rear side windows, and 20% on the front side windows. That's illegal in my state, but I haven't had issues in the past. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I've been lucky with multiple vehicles over multiple years so I'm willing to take the risk.

I've also purchased a dash cam (Thinkware F800) with the rear camera too, and had it hard wired last weekend along with a new radar detector (Uniden R3). Today I'm getting my Blendmount for the R3, so I'm excited to see how that'll look once installed.

Since the ZL1, and really all Camaro's, are not meant to be driven in the Winter, I bought a beater car that I'll drive most of the time. At least that's the plan :-).

Insurance on the ZL1 was a shock. I have a perfect driving record and always have, but even with a PERFECT driving record and super good credit, most insurance companies quoted me more than double for what my Mustang premium was. My Mustang's price was a little over 50k, and the ZL1 is obviously more than that, but it wasn't DOUBLE the price either. Not sure why the insurance rates are so ridiculously high. I checked State Farm (the priciest of all the places I checked), Liberty Mutual and Allstate (both of which were comparable), Progressive and Geico (both were MUCH cheaper than the others).
