Default Need Help finding a Rear Differential

Hi,
I'm new here.. please help me find a Rear Differential..I have a 2015 Camaro Coupe..My mechanic said he wants a new one. And the dealership said it's on back order.. he said I should go with a new one VS: rebuiling the old one... does anyone know where I can find a new one?

Why would new be better then rebuilt? I mean I agree with that if your rebuilder does not have experience but a guy that rebuilds rears can do a better then factory rebuild with better parts and bearings.

or look around at the wrecking yards and see what's available and if you find a good one have it refreshed so to speak. change oil, gaskets seals if remotely questionable and adjust gears if needed.

Doesn't sound like your mechanic knows much,I'd find another.
He probably doesn't know how to do gear work so he wants you to buy a drop in unit.
There's lots of shops out there that specialize in this kind of work ,I'm with Gorn a good gear guy can make it better than new.
If you must buy new check Jegs or Summit.

I ended up going to a better mechanic and hes going to rebuild it. The original mecanic was just too lazy I guess he didnt want to do it. I'll never go back to him again. Its gonna be spendy.. but it's worth it. It has high miles on it, thats why I got susch a good deal on it.
