Question need help!

hey im new to here. im 17 and looking to get a 92 camaro for a first car. just wanting to get some input on something. my dad believes that the 92 model is a mechanical nightmare. i just want to know if that is true and would it be a good investment to get that car or to look somewhere else. thanks!

drive a 4th gen first. at your age you will be wanting a v6 to start with and a 3.8 is a kick butt 6. the 92 is very similar in style to the lt1 4th gen car. anyways try a post in the lounge,,, maybe the 3rd or 4th gen section, you should get some different views. lol. welcome and enjoy.

I would dissagree with your Father, but I understand why he thinks that. Many of these cars get owned by kids. Most kids do not take good care of them. Then they sell them to another kid and its a nightmare of work to keep it running. I am a former GM tech and I am looking for a safe dependable car for my 15 year old daughter. I am looking for either a 90-92 305 TBI or a 96-2002 V6. IMO these are the best of both worlds. Finding one of these that has been welll maintained can be a task. You will look at a lot of junk to find one. I may be willing to go 90-95 V6 but I would only do that If I am doing the engine myself.
