Wink My New 99 Camaro Z28

Picked up a 99 Z28 last Friday night, and cannot believe I have wasted my time with other cars for so long. This car has so much power, is a blast to drive, and I am going to get in so much trouble with this car.

Tonight I was leaving a Walgreen's parking lot, and a jerk in a giant SUV (I have one of those too, but I am not a jerk) honked his horn at me for being in his way, which I wasn't. I couldn't help myself, I stomped on it and left a nice line of rubber for him to stare at.

Anyway, just introducing myself and looking forward to being part of the community.

Be careful. Cops like to pull people over for that. Ask me how I know.

Post some pics up!

I know, it is just a matter of time before I get some unwanted attention. This car just begs to be pushed, though! Except for the Flowmasters I believe it is stock. I traded in an '06 350z and bought a commuter car, which is what got me looking for something drive and wrench on for the weekends. I am embarrassed to admit how much faster the Camaro is than the 350Z.

I would like to post pictures, but I don't think I can yet. The car is painted black, looks like a Maaco re-paint. It has stock 16" wheels, but I am picking up a set of ZR1 wheels (17x9.5 front, 17x11 rear) this week. Also replaced the interior with seats from a 2000 Trans Am. Now thinking about what comes next. Probably suspension upgrades (springs, shocks, sway bars).

Welcome to the forum, good to see another z-car/datsun refugee! I've had a two '78s, a '71 and a '72. I wrecked one of the '78s and put the L28 in the '71 before I scrapped it for the '72 and put it in there with a pair of early SUs and a mild cam.

I eventually put those SUs on a '73 620 pickup with a fresh L20B mated to a 5-speed from a '81 turbo and the stock 4.88 gears. That truck was fun:

For your suspension, I'd look here: Strano Performance Parts - Parts Search
Strano is very knowledgable about his stuff, and will gladly give advice (so long as you place an order with them afterward).

Yes, I modded all my Z's in some fashion. The 70 and 71 both had 280ZX motors and 5-speeds. Your truck sounds like a beast! That thing must have been very light, too! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! I talked to BMR, and was considering calling Strano's, but the warning on his web site about "free information" scared me off. I get it, though. He is trying to run a business.
