My Baby
Hey, I'm Shawna, 20, from Jersey. I bought my 86 Camaro in July of last year. It was one of those I saw it and had to have it, my dream car is a 69 Camaro, which my cousin has, he totally restored his, I'll try to post pics of it, but yea, an impulse buy, I paid a grand for my baby and when I got it there were little things that needed to be done, like new tires and whatnot which turned out to be a pain because of the rims, aparently it had been sitting for months before I bought it. Well, so far, I haven't done that much to it and some A- hole hit my front quater panel[:@], so now theres a dent to be repaired. The car runs great for being 20 years old, it has an 8 cylinder 305 in it and it purred like a kitten when the weather was warm but now I seem to be having issues with it. Which I'll post in a different thread. So I came on this site for advise, a little bit of repair help, because I am trying to do the work myself, so if you guys could check out my other posts and give me a hand it would be really appreciated.

RE: My Baby
Well, I have someone actually who I convinced to doa complete body restoration for 2500, and a tune up for cost of parts and a pack of smokes (some one ive known for a while.) but what I'd really like to do firstis get a high performance 350 in it. I've known some people to restore the exterior of the car and just leave the engine and finetuning alone. Thats ano no for me,it will sound and performsexi before it looks sexi. Finances being what they are right now tho, I don't know when my baby will get the attention she deserves.

RE: My Baby
Shawna: "My Baby" gives it away was sung by Peter Townshend - Great Number. Any way I bought my 70 z in 85 after parking my Volvo in a tree for 30 seconds before it fell out and breaking about every bone in my body. The lousy parking incident was caused by a broken tie rod. The Camaro came with a 396 out of a 66 Vette. Since the car did not come with the original 350 LT1 for therapeutic reasons I put in a 454 out of a 71 SS Laguna costing me a whole $400 for a quick Valve job, bearings, a hone and rings. This was my 1st BBC and needless to say with the power running thru the M21 to a 12 bolt 4.10 Posi I was very impressed. I was married in 88 and the car sat in storage till 2005 when the wife decided to go her own way. So again for therapeutic reasons I commenced a 2 year rehabilitation to bring "My Baby" to her full potential. I hope you understand that life has its ups and downs and you have to devote your time to family and matters that demand immediate attention. If necessary, let the car sit but hold onto it no matter what others say, and when the time is right or lifejust gets unbearable; it will be there for you. Good Luck and welcome to the club.
