Default Minnesota n00b here

Hi, i'm Sam, i'm an MN native. Pretty new to the camaro scene myself, but they've always been one of my favorites. I actually have even already posted to get some help from the friendly members here who were very insightful and helped me on the right path with the project I was on getting my car fixed. I have an 86' 305 with minor mods camaro not sure what tranny is in it, i was told a 350 3spd turbo, but my guess is that's wrong since the info on the motor i was given was wrong. but for now it's running and is my daily driver till i get something i can drive so i can park and restore. so i may have TONS of new questions for ya soon.

Unless its been swapped out you should have a 700R4 four speed auto. A easy way to find out is start from a stop and see how many times its shifts. You should see the rpms drop 3 times. You dont have to run it to max speed to figure this out just normal driving up to about 65 should do it.

Welcome to the forums by the way

Well, unfortunately, that's one of the many things i have to fix, the Tach doesn't work in the car. I have felt, and heard the shifts before but i've only felt 2. from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd. but who knows, the guy i bought it from didn't have any paper work or any useful information from who he bought it from and supposedly that's who did all the change-outs on it. (from a V6 manual to a 305 V8 auto).
