Default Just picked up this bucket

Hello! Way back in the day, I had a 85 Camaro with a very healthy small block. I was a kid back then. When I say back then, I mean the mid 90's. My best pass with the naturally aspirated motor was a 10.68. I think I still have the time slip.

At the time I also had a Miata, and went down that hot rodding path for many years. I have been a Miata owner for 25 years now, and currently have a fire breather that I am finishing up. It is more of a road race car now.

However, I always wanted a 4th generation Camaro. Recently, a friend of mine that I reconnected with from my earlier racing days picked up a 95 V6 car that he planned on making a hot rod out of. Well he fell on some hard times, so I decided to purchase the car from him. I paid $900.00 for it, which I will tell you was not that great of a deal. The car needs a lot of work.

I also picked up an aluminum LS1 that needs rebuilding from another friend that I have known for years. My plan is to run a carbureted LS, automatic transmission, and nitrous.

I already have the car stripped to bare bones. I need to find some body parts, and have already picked up a few things to make it better. I joined the forum in hopes of picking up a few ideas on making the car as light as possible yet still look like a street car, and maybe finding good parts, and meeting a few locals.

Looking forward to making progress on my new found toy. Thanks for listening.

welcome to the forum. ls1 into a v6 4th gen is going to be a major project. add to that its pre 98 and that adds a couple more things. these cars are engine specific from the factory. under it all a v6 is not the same as a v8.

Yes, it is going to be a major project, but I can handle it. New rear end, TH400, BMR sub-frame, new wiring, racing seats, roll cage; it is getting it all.

This will not be my first major automotive project.

I am not opposed to that. I guess it depends on my elapsed time goals and budget. I want to go as fast as I can per dollar.

Losing weight is free.
You might consider a THM200-4R trans, less weight internally in accelerating/decelerating than a THM400.
It's Physics.
