Introduction.
Alright, so I've posted a few times, and I guess I should tell you a bit about my car.
I am a new driver, so I am lucky my parents let me get this car.
'93 camaro z28.
Auto.
150000 miles. More like 75.
Stock, except the rear end, which I hear is the weakness for these cars. Also we think it has an aftermarket exhaust, but we aren't sure.
No rust. Which for michigan is crazy.
Burgundy.
Basically I am looking to get it to the 290-310 hp range, and am wondering what I should do to get it there.
And that is my story.

Hey, i'm 15 just got a 350 5.7 third gen i felt the same way when i found out my parents let me lol. The LT engines arent slow, but itll be nice to see the boost in HP and how it got there. I'm looking for about that range too. Good luck with it!
welcome.
I'd say enjoy the car until the need to drive fast subsides.
Alot of people wan't alot of horsepower when they are young.
Remember your insurance is already going to be High.
1 speeding ticket, and you can count on paying alot more, expeciallywhen your younger.

Thanks all.
Yeah, I was worried about the insurance, but luckily the car is considered old enough that it's not an issue with the insurance company.
And luckily for me, I'm less interested in going fast, and more interested in getting to reasonable speeds, in an unreasonable amount of time. [8D]

Are you looking at RWHP or FWHP?
Like was said earlier. 290 at the crank wont be hard. At the wheels could cost a little bit. Best bet is a cam, intake and heads, a hot cam kit would be good. Or go for a complete rebuild on the engine.
Either way good job on the car. Your parents are either VERY trusting or not know what that car is capable of.

Go give your parents a extra hug. You have any idea what it cost to insure someone under 25 in a Z28? They could have cut that almost inhalf by getting you a V6
. Heck I was thinking of getting a V6 car and converting it to a LS1 just to avoid the insurance. The issue being my daughter is only 18 but any car I get she has to be insured to drive. I would never let my daughter drive a V8 anything. I worry the Sunfire with its 2.2 is too much car for her.
