Default Introduction

I've been on Corvette Forum a long time (Procrastination Racing), VetteNet for years long ago, and on Corvette Valley. However, I have been looking for a Camaro lately and figured I needed to get help from the guys who know. So I registered and going in for some advice.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm looking for a 4th generation convertible. I bought a '97 blue Z28 convertible on eBay a couple of months ago, but when I got there, the water pump was pouring water like a garden hose. Actually, it wasn't blowing any out, and I went for a ride, noticing the low coolant light was on. They went to fill it up and as I got ready to leave with it, it was pouring coolant out in a steady stream.

Checking the coolant, it looked like mud. It had a greasy look like someone had dropped a dozen tubes of stop leak in it. I decided that this wasn't a good thing to be dealing with since I had a nearly 300 mile ride home, and decided to pass.

Now I'm trying to find something close as I really like the medium/bright/quasar blue color. Of course, it seems that there were less of them, so the hunt is a bit difficult.

I like the '93-'97 headlights the best, although the '98-'02 are growing on me as I look at more of them. Of the '93-'97, I like the interior of the '97 the best. So my choice would be a '97 quasar blue Z28 convertible. I had one for a day, from eBay, with a semi-happy ending (I didn't get stuck, but the trip was costly.) But with what most are mentioning on gas mileage with their Z28s, I think a low mile V6 might be the better option.

Yeah, it won't be as fast, but I'm looking at more DD than going fast, and at $3.45 for premium, 14 mpg could get old fast. Especially since I am also looking for Neons as a DD commuter. I had a '95 several years back that I got 35 mpg all the time, but most of the newer ones are autos and getting only 30 tops (many 28-29) so at that point, a V6 Camaro is nearly as economical. The only way a Neon edges out is if it is a 35 mpg 5 speed car. BTW, that is probably as bad as saying F*rd on here or the Corvette Forum, but those little cars are go karts with four doors. Most have the touring or sports suspension and are day and night from the usually compact import stuff like Corollas, and such.

(Getting way too far off topic here.)

Whichever I find first, the other loses. I know that has got to seem strange, to be looking for two cars that are so very different, but that is where I am.

I guess I should redeem myself by coming back here to say what I got. I did buy a '98 in November and have been in the other sections but never made it back here. I didn't get the convertible, but I guess in the long run, that will be ok since the job handed me a real switch right now and I may be on the road some.

Far too many. I'm at 131,xxx now. It is clean and everything is there. The only issues areone t-top has been replaced and has the matte sunscreen on the driver's side and of course, the slow driver's window.
