im new to this site and i guess you could say im somewhat of a camaro owner. what i mean is i own an 86 silverado but the engine is from a 78 Z28. im having a problem with starting it. my issue is this sometimes the flywheel and starter will lineup othertimes they lineup to well and the teeth lockup together. now both flywheel and starter are brand new just installed a week ago. i have shimmed the starter up and down and not at all and no matter what i do it seems to do the same thing. now when i do get it to turn the engine will not fire. someone please help im going nuts here trying to figure this out.

 

welcome to the forum, that's quite a combo! i have a friend that has a 91 lightning with a 4.6 mustang engine in it.

 

Welcome, and you don't need to have a Camaro to fit in this place.

And just the engine does not count. Thats like saying I have a Corvette, sort of, because my car has an LS1 in it. But its all good there's plenty of love here

When you start Frankensteining parts and vehicles things will go wrong. It even happens to the experts on tv all the time. Go over to the tech section and see what happens. Sorry I couldn't help anymore but my calling is more LT and LS engines but hopefully someone can give you some good advice
