i have gold 98 z28
i just bought my 98 z28 its gold and i heard its a rare color. but i need some tech help on it. it has 77k miles and they told me around that mileage the syncros go out and i think it is other then that its in perfect condition

Welcome.... Just some FYI:
There were 1,399 camaros done in gold for 1998. this represented only 2.9% of the total camaros made that year in all colors.... so yeah its rare. Of this only 301 were Z28 coupes. If your car is a convert.... better still.... only 72 Made. This was technically the last production year for the gold color
But it still doesn't come close to the rarest of that year: Light pewter metallic.... only 63 total were made.
To bad though your car wasn't a 1999 gold Camaro.... because only 5 of those were made! 2 were given away in a sweepstake and the other 3 were driven by GM execs. this was the last year for gold.
So I guess for the benefit of anyone who has not seen this, here is a breakdown. I know it's lengthy AND I know some stats may be a bit off (some have said that there IS a B4C 1998 Camaro and some arguement over the SLP special color models...etc) But this list has been known to be at least 97-98% accurate:

While Sport Gold was discontinued near the end of the model run in 1998, a contract had been signed between Chevrolet and Days Inn for a sweepstakes where the final prize was a Sport Gold Z28 Coupe. While the sweepstakes ran in the spring and summer of '98, the contract specified a 1999 Z28. Thus Ste. Therese built 5 1999s for this sweepstakes. Two units were given away, the other three were driven by GM executives and then disposed of through the GM auction system.
UPDATE 3-22-00 - One of the 5 1999 Sport Gold metallic Z28 coupes has been located in the Chicago area, severely damaged with 17,396 miles on the odometer.

There were 1,399 camaros done in gold for 1998. this represented only 2.9% of the total camaros made that year in all colors.... so yeah its rare. Of this only 301 were Z28 coupes. If your car is a convert.... better still.... only 72 Made. This was technically the last production year for the gold color
But it still doesn't come close to the rarest of that year: Light pewter metallic.... only 63 total were made. To bad though your car wasn't a 1999 gold Camaro.... because only 5 of those were made! 2 were given away in a sweepstake and the other 3 were driven by GM execs. this was the last year for gold.
So I guess for the benefit of anyone who has not seen this, here is a breakdown. I know it's lengthy AND I know some stats may be a bit off (some have said that there IS a B4C 1998 Camaro and some arguement over the SLP special color models...etc) But this list has been known to be at least 97-98% accurate:

** A total of 5 Z28 Coupes were built in the 1999 model year in color 63U Sport Gold metallic. While Sport Gold was discontinued near the end of the model run in 1998, a contract had been signed between Chevrolet and Days Inn for a sweepstakes where the final prize was a Sport Gold Z28 Coupe. While the sweepstakes ran in the spring and summer of '98, the contract specified a 1999 Z28. Thus Ste. Therese built 5 1999s for this sweepstakes. Two units were given away, the other three were driven by GM executives and then disposed of through the GM auction system.
UPDATE 3-22-00 - One of the 5 1999 Sport Gold metallic Z28 coupes has been located in the Chicago area, severely damaged with 17,396 miles on the odometer.

i have never seen another gold one ever and that pewter is really popular here...my title yes orange tho lol...
Welcome.... Just some FYI:
There were 1,399 camaros done in gold for 1998. this represented only 2.9% of the total camaros made that year in all colors.... so yeah its rare. Of this only 301 were Z28 coupes. If your car is a convert.... better still.... only 72 Made. This was technically the last production year for the gold color But it still doesn't come close to the rarest of that year: Light pewter metallic.... only 63 total were made.
To bad though your car wasn't a 1999 gold Camaro.... because only 5 of those were made! 2 were given away in a sweepstake and the other 3 were driven by GM execs. this was the last year for gold.
So I guess for the benefit of anyone who has not seen this, here is a breakdown. I know it's lengthy AND I know some stats may be a bit off (some have said that there IS a B4C 1998 Camaro and some arguement over the SLP special color models...etc) But this list has been known to be at least 97-98% accurate:

** A total of 5 Z28 Coupes were built in the 1999 model year in color 63U Sport Gold metallic. While Sport Gold was discontinued near the end of the model run in 1998, a contract had been signed between Chevrolet and Days Inn for a sweepstakes where the final prize was a Sport Gold Z28 Coupe. While the sweepstakes ran in the spring and summer of '98, the contract specified a 1999 Z28. Thus Ste. Therese built 5 1999s for this sweepstakes. Two units were given away, the other three were driven by GM executives and then disposed of through the GM auction system.
UPDATE 3-22-00 - One of the 5 1999 Sport Gold metallic Z28 coupes has been located in the Chicago area, severely damaged with 17,396 miles on the odometer.

There were 1,399 camaros done in gold for 1998. this represented only 2.9% of the total camaros made that year in all colors.... so yeah its rare. Of this only 301 were Z28 coupes. If your car is a convert.... better still.... only 72 Made. This was technically the last production year for the gold color
But it still doesn't come close to the rarest of that year: Light pewter metallic.... only 63 total were made. To bad though your car wasn't a 1999 gold Camaro.... because only 5 of those were made! 2 were given away in a sweepstake and the other 3 were driven by GM execs. this was the last year for gold.
So I guess for the benefit of anyone who has not seen this, here is a breakdown. I know it's lengthy AND I know some stats may be a bit off (some have said that there IS a B4C 1998 Camaro and some arguement over the SLP special color models...etc) But this list has been known to be at least 97-98% accurate:

** A total of 5 Z28 Coupes were built in the 1999 model year in color 63U Sport Gold metallic. While Sport Gold was discontinued near the end of the model run in 1998, a contract had been signed between Chevrolet and Days Inn for a sweepstakes where the final prize was a Sport Gold Z28 Coupe. While the sweepstakes ran in the spring and summer of '98, the contract specified a 1999 Z28. Thus Ste. Therese built 5 1999s for this sweepstakes. Two units were given away, the other three were driven by GM executives and then disposed of through the GM auction system.
UPDATE 3-22-00 - One of the 5 1999 Sport Gold metallic Z28 coupes has been located in the Chicago area, severely damaged with 17,396 miles on the odometer.
