I may have a delima!!

I recently had my 81 painted back to the original 054 Gold color. I then ordered a stripe package from Classic Industries. All they offered was the Gold Tr-Color Gold, (Light Gold/ Med. Gold/ Dark Gold).

Several people on this forum suggested that I should go back with the single color striping, as it came ortiginally. So, I contacted Classic Industries and they allowed me to return the package for a full refund.

Discussion broke out on the forum as to where to get the correct stripes and everyone seemed to think Phoenix Graphics is the right place to get the correct single dark gold stripe package. So I called them. All THEY offer is the Tr-Color as well. The rep. on the phone convinced me that tr-color is correct,...so I ordered it.

Well,...the stripes arrived tonight. However, my delima is,....it appears that the "light gold" color on the stipes is going to be the EXACT same color as the car!!!!

I haven't removed the backing paper in it's entirety, but I did carefully peel back about 1/8th of an inch to see how it contrasted to the car. In that small sample, it looks to be the same color. Granted, it may look like a greater contrast once installed, but I didn't want to open it up if I needed to return it.

Has anyone else had any experience with the tr-color gold stripe decal package on a gold car?

i think the ones you have are for a brown and black 81 Z28's. i could be wrong but im pretty sure.

 

But NONE of the major suppliers carry the single dark gold stripe as shown in the picture.

 

Man the gold brings me back. I know they were T/As but all I can think about is Chips and The Rockford Files every time I see a gold one. Good luck.

 

I went ahead and installed the tri-color stripes, since I already had them here.

 

Looks just perfect to me. I think there's just a slight enough contrast to look fine.
