Hi - My Newbie intro
Hey - starting to restore a 68 RS. Hoping to get some opinions on parts and to log progress on my little project. I'll be happy to share my experience with this endeavor and hopefully contribute something of value here! LOL
My RS has the original 327 (210hp) and a powerglide. The car is mostly original...not in too bad of shape. Definitely needs some rust repair and paint, some new interior stuff i.e. carpet and door panels, and I think the engine and tranny need to be rebuilt. I'd like to add some horsepower (mild cam, intake, 4bbl, etc) but not sure about what parts to use. I was also thinking about adding disc brakes (front, at least) too; it seems there are lots of conversion kits available now.
Any opinions on the best kit / source for the front disc brake conversion? I did a search in the forum and found a few recommendations, just wondering if there are any new opinions.
My overall goal for the project is to be able to drive this car occasionally, and to have it be mechanically sound and, well, to look good.
I can't really afford to do a frame-off resto or anything like that, but am hoping to get it running good, and looking fairly good...then take it from there.
Anyway, glad to be here.
Thanks
Jim

Thanks guys, I appreciate the welcome. Have been searching the site and have found lots of good info already. Today I am leaning towards a Wilwood brake kit...the Dynalite Pro Series 2285. I'll keep searching and researching and talking to folks to ensure I'm selecting the right product(s). Thanks again!
I appreciate the welcome. I've created an album with a few "before" pics and will add other pics as I make progress.

I like the wheels on yer baby! What kind are they?
Thanks again,
Jim

Sweet! Thanks for the pics. Your interior looks pretty good. Keep up the good work and progress of your restore.
My rims are Weld Racing rims. Found them cheap at a swap meet.

Thanks Mikes 68...
Nice looking '68 you got there! Is that paint Le Mans blue? It looks very sharp!
Hey, did you put a disc conversion up front? Are those 15" wheels? If so, what size tires are you running, and did you have to do any suspension mods to get the 15s to fit?
Thanks!
