Default hi im also new and have questions!

Hi im male 20 years old white guyim searching around my area for a good 4th gen camero/firebird,trans am.

Im getting one for street and maybe a little drift. I dont know a whole lot about cars but owell. what are someknow problemsi should look for when purchasing a 4th gen GM ponymobile? Idont have tons o money and im looking at just cut and welding up my own intake. As far as that, all would need to make a port for the PCV valve and keep the MAFS happy and i should be fine right?

From what ive read, cold air intakes make more overall horses because of the denser air but short rams get better trottle response. soo in thoery,if i can move the filter isolation box back as far as possible and bring the filter closer to the rear, could i build a cold air ram intake?

Dose anybody know of any specific or general performace/maintance books or websites that cover just about everything from body kit install to turbo kits?

i plan on slapping some coilovers on it but i heard if you dont have clue what your doing, you can end up in the ER with a strut thru your leg[X(].

thanks guys

BTW i live In Fort Wayne IN

no dude but seriously just look to make sure it has low miles, good contition, test the t-tops (if it has any to make sure they dont leak) make sure theres no rust on the underside of the car, Id get a carfax too. But id take your turbo kit question to the general tech section of the forums.

www.autotrader.com

Use this website to help find a good one around your area. its how i found mine, it usually has the carfax for all the cars and everything.

good luck bra.........and by the way, its CAMARO lol

thanks ive been on autotrader. and im not serious about a turbo kit,im just looking for some kind of book that shows basic upgrade steps, like if i wanted to do a big brake kit,it would show how to swap out calipers, lines, bleed the system, all that crap.

Welcome to the forums. Let us know what you get, when you finally get something. This site is actually a good place to get advice. there are plenty of posts and stickys that lead to tons on knowledge. Have fun here. Why drifting? Would you be at a track or on the street drifting?

both. My town has lots of roads that bearly see any traffic. Lots of racing goes down and the cops leave people alone beacuse the area is soo isolated. A track day would be fun too. Idont know if my dirtbike helmet would certify with regs.my basic plan for the caris..

home made intake,
exaust(spell)
trottle body
some Tasteful black 5 spokes and zr rated rubbers(stay safe!)
upgrade calipers and rotors
"MAYBE"
coilovers
camshafts
some buckets with 5 points

"in my dreams"

signle turbo setup
