Thanks, I would go with the LS1, I havnt driven it much yet but it is a terror to drive. It feels like a stampeding elephant pulling a wagon. butI wouldn't have it any other way.
hahah that's insane! I know I'm going to do an LS1 project, I just haven't decided what to put one in. The camaro seems like a good candidate, but so does the 72 Chevelle I've had sitting in my yard for a couple of years too long lol

That definitely crossed my mind.. I want to work on the camaro's engine a bit and see what's up with it, since I had very little time it play around with it before I had to drain the gas and all.. but yeah it seems like the camaro would be a good candidate, and then it really would be a year-round car!

oh...and also, dont mean to doubt here, but you should find out more info on that 350...

400 is alot of HP to suck out of a 79 engine (of which I'd assume the stock hp was under 200)

Yeah I'm with him. That is a whole lot. you would know in a flash if you had a 400hp motor.even at 300+ hp these cars are monsters. With 400 when you step on the gasyour car will pull to the point of fear.

well you're correct I don't know alot about the engine, I do know who built it, so I'm going to talk to them and see if they can give me some more info. It is not a 79 engine though, it is a completely seperate block, I'm not sure where it came from. I know 400 horses is alot.. I babied it on the ride home to play it safe.. but just a tap of the pedal caused the seat (which I had moved closer to the steering column) to fly back because evidentaly the seat is broken and doesn't lock in place..

Get some numbers off it...we can probably help you out...

The reason I'm asking about this is one time I bought a 79 lemans with a '350' in it...ended up being a 305...identical, very hard to tell besides the #'s

also bought a 86 cutty w/ a 455 in it...the 455 ended up being a dog year (74) and was rated at 190hp/3xxtq...

so try and get some specs and maybe we can shine some info about your engine

Welcome to the forum.

Just a tip. You do realize that dropping in an LS1 will require a vastly more complex wiring harness and the computer to go with it?
It's been done and people here can help, but just keep it in mind as you decide.

haha yes I do, it's not anywhere near close to happening.. just sort of a long term plan that I was thinking about. Thanks for the info though
