Is that the original 302 DZ motor? Those things are awesome on the race track. Not a lot of fun around town with kids in the back unless the kids enjoy burnouts.
Once you do get the clutch out and start rolling they'll wind to the moon though.

I read a story one time about Carol Shelby, Ford wanted him involved in the Trans AM races. He knew what he could do with a Ford small block so he bought all the parts to build a chevy 302 from a chevy dealer. He then used all the stock parts but also did things he would normally do if you gave him a production motor to race. When he was done the 302 dyno tested at just under 500 HP. With max HP over 6500 RPMs. He told Ford no. After he told Ford what he found Ford started the 302 Boss project.
When you talked to the old time chevy guys it seemed like everyone had a 302 Z28, most kept it about a year and they said it was insanely fast. but don't recall why they sold it. So remember why. They got tired of hard cold starts, rough idle and a suspension like a rock every day. Seems like everyone wants as fast as possible until they get it. Thank the powers to be for fuel injection, now we can have both.

Yes sir. I haven't had it out yet, but it sounds like a beast with the chambered exhaust!!
