Hello from Ft. Bragg
Hey there from Fort Bragg! I'm new to this whole car thing (my ride has four hooves) - but am trying to restore my husband's 1991 (?) Camaro for him before he comes home from Afghanistan as a surprise. Looking forward to getting to know everyone and hopefully learning a LOT!!
* I apologize for double posting - they won't let me edit the original yet. I don't know much about the car. Right now it's not drivable because the gas pedal or something keeps sticking and you have to put it in neutral and brake (but the tires still spin), and it overheats fairly quickly. Other mechanical problems that I'm aware of: the heating/air conditioning doesn't work. It's a v8 and has a corvette engine in it, but needs a paint job (badly) and the frame is bent (a friend decided to take it for a drive and it ended up in the ditch). So there's a ton of work that needs to be done. I have no idea how much it costs but am hoping that someone knows an honest shop or two in the area that's reasonably priced. Am going to try to read/learn as much as I can and hopefully do SOME of the work, if possible, on my own. So any advice on sites/books to read and shops to go to would be GREATLY appreciated. Will post some pictures tomorrow when we have some daylight
Welcome. I actually live out in stedman and work on Ft. Bragg..... and lucky enough I have 91 Z28 with the same engine that your husband has. One good suggestion., check out the site www.fayettevillef-body.com
That is our local club and there is ALOT of knowlegeable friendly guys (and gals, my girls is on there and has a 91 Firebird with the 305.... we are an F-body family) . If you have any questions let me know and I can ask them, and maybe even have one or two of the guys take a look at the car and let you know what is most needed.
