Default Hello

I've owned my red 1996 Camaro Z28 since it was brand new. I got new tires and a bunch of electrical work done last year. Next on the list is a new engine and transmission - at 240,000 miles and given recent engine temp problems I think it is time. People say "get a new car" but I'm pretty attached, and certainly having no car payment is a good thing. Looking for advice and ideas.

Welcome to the forum. Instead of just changing out the motor you should try and fix the problems as it might end up cheaper fixing it than getting everything new. There are plenty of people here on the forum that will be able to help with just about anything.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I would say the same thing and see if you cant salvage the motor by some repairs.

Sadly, I think it seized up when I trying to get it home the other day. I've been fighting temperature problems for awhile, and on that day, the temperature would fly up to the top within 5 minutes of driving. I pulled over and turned the car off each time to cool, but the last time after cooling, it did not start again, and sounded seized up when I tried. We towed it home. We'll ask our mechanic, but I think he'll probably confirm it's not fixable.
