Default G'Day from West Australia.

Hello all, just joined up today as I'm needing help ID'ing a blue chev block
that the nephews turned up with. Best to know who your dealing with so time
for a short intro.
Born '63 into a Chrysler Valiant family, had a minor interlude with Henry but
ended up ingrained with GM dna to this day. Was a mechanic up until a few
years ago but had to give it away due to wear & tear.

I dont own a Camaro but do like the early Z28's. I own something similar though, from our Australian arm of the GM family being General Motors Holden.

The grey one is my 1971 Monaro GTS with 350ci 4 bolt & Muncie M21.
The white car is my 1973 Torana GTR XU-1 with 202ci straight six & 3
1.75" Stromberg CD's, 4 speed & LS diff.

As i said, I need help deciphering the codes & suffix's on this chev block so
can you direct me to a engine ID thread or maybe 1 thats on-going that I
could tag onto the end of?

Cheers,
Jono.

welcome nice cars there . the 4th gens seems most plentiful for all price ranges ,the real early ones can cost alot be very rare there are alot of 70s to 80s ones out there for resonable prices hear ,not sure what they go for there ,the new ones are priced pretty high ,but if price is nothing ,there some nice ones ,i like the 4th gens myself ,i would like a 74 to
to 81 roller ,to put a nice powerful engine in one day like a 427

Hey thanks, sorry for the delayed reply.
your future project sounds like a good'un.
I like some of the newer shape but I'm always drawn to chrome &
stainless, although I will be keeping an eye on the 1 or 2 current shape Camaro's
racing in our GT series, especially at our 12 hour event around our Bathurst track
coming up in February.

Anyway's I'll put these block numbers up & see what you'se think.
GM 14010207 S
207S...RH dip stick
J290....Oct 29 1980 clock on the D
V 1107 U5F...Flint Nov 7th- 1980 to 85 350ci 4 bolt
Its definately a 5 in the suffix, some sites list a USF & a couple U5F.
Maybe they lost the "S" stamp that day??
It measures up at 4" bore above & below the ring wear, also only has a 2 bolt main.
Whats throwing me is that I'd read that the same cast number was also used for 305's
& should have 5.7 stamped/etched at the bellhousing flange if a 350. This is not there.
Nearly forgot, there's also another number on the front pad...TB1511959- last 2 numbers
are etched I think.

Appreciate any help you can give,
Jono
