Default First Camaro

Hey guys I just bought my first Camaro this morning. Its a 1995 Z28, it has the LT1 in it. I bought it with a blown head gasket so Ive already torn into it and hope to have it up and running by the end of the week. But while I have it apart Im doing new rings and bearings and just about completely rebuilding the top end. My question is what would be a good cam for a daily driver thats completely stock except for a K&N CAI and a flowmaster exhaust? I dont want to have to do any computer enhancements either so Im just looking for something that will give it a little more power. Thanks!

There's better things to start off with than a cam. So far, you're off to a good start with the CAI and cat back. Headers would be you're next choice. Shoot for long tubes if you're county doesn't require emissions. And since the heads are off, why not get them port and polished? Lloyd Elliot does great work and can recommend a cam depending on what stage of p/p you went with.

Just remember, the more power you add to the engine, the more built you should plan on making you're tranny (btw M6 or A4?) and the rear end.

Also, it's best to get the car tuned so it can take full advantage of the upgrades you're putting into it.

OK thanks. Its an A4 but next on my list is to get that built up. Is there a long tube hearder that you suggest? Im going to get my heads inspected and cleaned then Im going to put new everything except valves on it as long as their in good shape. Maybe I should just keep the stock cam until I can get it breathing better?

I have Pacesetters and they're the best for someone on a budget. If you can swing it, Kooks makes great headers but are a bit more expensive. Just make sure you can pass inspection with long tubes. If you can't, then you'll have to get mid-length or shorty headers. You'll also need a catted Y-pipe if you have emissions.

The closest cam to stock would be these three.

Thanks. Has anyone done an underdrive pulley system on these cars? I have a Dakota R/T as well and heard many people having trouble with keeping the battery charged and didnt know if that would happen with this car. Is there any suggestions as far as brands? And Ill post pictures of before and after Im done with it. Its definately a project car. Thanks for your help
