Finally got a 69 and I stole it!!
This is my first post. Long story short... It belonged to a friend of a friend, its a true SS350, auto, Factory Air car. All original sheet metal, original floor pans. I ran the numbers on the block and it is the original 4 bolt main 300 horse turbo-fire 350. It's really too good to be true. Anyway, he had a fire under the hood, it came through the firewall and got the dash and smoked the interior before he could get it put out. He had it insured for $25,000... the insurance company (idiots) totaled it then offered it back to him for $5,000.00. He didnt want to fool with it only because he bought it already finished just to drive it. I think he was still in shock. I jumped on it! check out the pics, please let me know what you think.

Stole it possible. Think about why there was a fire in the first place. Electrical? Mechanical? Needs a new paint job. if smoke got into the interior then ur gonna need new interior. New glass. new header panel and hood new cowl panel. U may need a new dash for it if they hit it with water to put out the fire. I hope u didnt pay too much for it bc u may be putting 20k in it ur self

He says the fire was started by a loose fuel line. It did get the dash and I will have to replace all of the interior along with a complete wire harness. The only glass damaged was the windshield, Under the hood the fire damage was limited to just above the Carb so I will have it running in no time. Also, I am doing all the work with my 13 year old son so I'm really looking forward to it, plus I should save a ton of money on labor. And... I did get it for $5,000. He just wanted it out of his garage ASAP. I'm still pinching myself. Here's a new pic of my progress so far. Thanks for your comment.

it looks good....but it might need a new front clip and subframe...cuz my dads freind had a 69 nova that ahd an engine fire and the front end was all warped and stuff...it still looked stright till he tried to just replace the sheet metal and nothing lined up...so he got a whole new subframe and clip and it was fine

RE: Finally got a 69 and I stole it!!
thanks for the good words. I am really excited about this project. I think that we will enjoy it alot more when its finished since we are doing all the work. It would be nice to Buy one and just drive it but this one will mean alot more. I plan on removing all the interior this weekend so I will post a couple of interior picks next week. I 'll add you to all the other people that are ready to take it off my hands when I get frustrated or run out of money! Thanks again
