Camaro Newbie here
I just wanted to say hello to everyone. My name is Grant and I am picking up my Camaro on Friday. This is going to be the first American made car that I will have owned in my life.
My reason for getting are as follows. First I love Chevy and I can not stand Ford, everyone here has a Mustang and I absolutely hate them. Secondly I am a tall guy. I am 6'5" and I am tired of these damn small cars that I can not even fit into because my legs get cramped terribely.
I have worked on cars now for about 4 years and I have rebuilt two engines and built one engine. Until now I have been a Volkswagen person. I rebuilt my 1990 Jetta engine that I blew and I trade that car for my 1974 Super Beetle which I currently still own, however the engine I built for it did not pan out as well as I had hope for.
I am getting a 1989 Camaro with a 2.8 V6 with the automatic transmission. The car is blue with a gray interior and T-tops. I actually bought the car not running, it needs an oil pump. I figure that engine will probabely need to gone through which is fine by me, but I am going to slap a oil pump in it and go.
The reason is that my buddy you got me into cars, has rebuilt a ton of engines before and he has a 3.8 V6 sitting around and we are going to rebuild that and eventually put that engine into the camaro. I do not want a V8 for to reason, first horsepower, I like to drive fast and I do not think at the age of 21 that I am ready for that much horsepower when I have only be use to 100 and also gas milage.
Actually I was hoping someone can give me a good website to buy good yet reasonable performace parts for the 89 Camaro, I really do not know about American Performace Parts, I just know alot about imports which I am desperately trying to get out of.
Thanks
