Default Buying a 1996 Camaro rs

looking to buy my first car this week, for my 22nd birthday, a 96’ camaro rs. 150k miles. having been my first car i’m doing all the research i can. always wanted my first car to be a mustang, monte carlo, camaro, or firebird. found a reasonable one for 2k, interior is well maintained, he says he bought it with a locked engine but since has replaced engine and transmission. It needs front shocks that he says he have just haven't installed.fuel pump, coil packs, o2 sensor, rear shocks all replaced. the paint on hood and wing are fading not a big deal ( personally not that bad for me as i have other plans for it ) looking for it to be a daily driver nothing to serious just to work, store for about a year then put down payment on something else. want to restore with the v8 engine in the long run. would it be a good purchase & what else to look for when going to check it out in person? i know the basics of checking used cars & researching learn things to look for specifically on 4th generation camaros.

These cars are a nightmare to convert to a different engine. If you really want a V8 buy a V8. Keep and eye on the coolant system and make sure there are not leaks. In fact take to a mechanic before you buy to make sure the engine was installed correctly and the car is solid. These cars can have rust issues that are hard to see without a lift.
