bought a 98, to hold me over til the new conv come out
Hello all,
I just recently bought my 98 in September of '09. It's a 3.8 V6 with a 5-speed. I bought the car from my brother-in-law's brother for 3,000, the dude just lost his job and needing the money (good deal for me). It had 135,000mi on the car and roughly 25,000mi on the motor when i bought it. the car is in pretty good condition considering the year and a previous front ender (hence the newer engine). the front end was fixed, and if you didn't get right up to the car and see the incorrect spacing between the hood and the Quarter panel you wouldn't be able to notice is was in a crash.
I have been looking at the new camaro's and figured I want the convertible when it comes out. I live in Miami and want ride with the top down. I have a 98 mitsubishi Montero with a 4 banger and a 5-speed (way under-powered for my liking), so I bought this baby to hold me over until it comes out in 2012.
Shortly after buying the car, I put in a K&N filter and a magnaflow catback. I drove it for a few months and then the clutch was giving me signs that the throwout bearing was going to S@#$, so I bought a stage 2 and figured that since we had to drop the tranny I would throw some new headers on it. So i bought some ceramic pacesetters and had them both installed. I am gonna hold off for a little bit on performance mods and am thinking cosmetics (Seats, SS Hood, maybe some re-upholstering). So that's where I am right now. I will try to steal a camera and upload some pics.
