Hi All
Just purchased my first 1st gen Camaro, from what I have been told
by the guy I got the car from it is a numbers matching 6 cylinder RS
auto car.
Not sure how to determine if the RS option was available for a base 6 cyl
car. I have spent several hours searching the net and have not come across another one like it.
Is there some way to determine what options came from the factory on this car?

Welcome to CF, Red. The RS was an appearance package, and wasn't restricted to engine options. Meaning yes, you could have ordered a 6 cyl RS car.
