I guess if youve been out of the game for 22 years your a new guy again right!!! Just got another 2002 SS. My last one was in Florida, no front tag required, Im in Texas now and they do. My searches have come up empty. SLP has nothing, ebay has nothing etc. Any leads or ideas on how to mount this front plate??
You're probably going to have to go wrecking yard shopping for one, should be lots of dead v6 cars around that still have one.
I live on the Washington /Oregon border so spend time in both and both require a front plate but I've had my 2001 SS for 6 1/2 years and never been pulled over for it.
It's not my daily driver though so only 10,000 miles in that timeframe.
I just brought home the 2000 SS that I bought in Indianapolis. I'm in NY where a car is required to have a front license plate. The car is so sharp without it I'm reluctant to put one on. Has anyone been pulled over for having no front plate?

I've owned two 4th gens a '93 and an '01,we're supposed to have a front plate here in Washington but I've never had one on either car and never been pulled over for it.
I did have a cop mention it once when I was pulled over and got a warning for being a little over speed by a city cop.
Indiana is a one plate state. If the car was shipped there new from the factory, it wouldn't have had the front plate bracket and the SPO label would not had the VK3 RPO listed. I've only been stopped once in twenty years and when that happened, I explained this to the officer. I also added I had tried to order one from the GM dealership, but they were no longer available. Because I had the front plate in the car with me, he gave me a warning and told to keep trying to find one.

I made a typo. Should have said SPID Label which is on the driver door and list the RPO numbers for every option the car was built with. The pictures below are from the 2000 Service Manual and should allow you to decipher the three digit RPO codes. For example, VK3 is a front license plate bracket.

Thank you for that info. I talked to a retired NY State Trooper friend he said to put the front plate on the dash board. He said to tell the police officer that the car was bought in Indiana where front plates aren't required therefore there is no front plate bracket. He also said to beware though because it's a good reason to pull you over if he suspects there may be some other violaton!
