Default 1st time camaro owner. landed a dream

Hey guys!

I just bought my first Camaro. I've been a long time fan (admittedly more a firebird fan, but F bodies, all the same). I ran across an '02 silver convertible, and fell in love with it. It was a one owner: an 80 yr old man and 60 yr old woman. It was sporting 61k on the speedo and very, very clean (obviously garage-kept). I couldn't walk away from it.

A good friend of mine was telling me about it over the phone. I was skeptical at first. My experience has been that this body style seems to be ragged out more times than not (I didn't know the owner history at that time). But, I bit on it and went to check it out.

At the time, I was actually looking for a truck since I'm an electrician. But, once I saw her, there was no way I was going to get anything else. It was the first thing I'd looked at that my daughter (5) had even been interested in and she loves it. My wife also enjoys it. So, while not the most practical purchase, it's proven to be a blast to drive and everyone in the family loves it.

She's a bone stock 3.8L convertible: silver with a black top and black leather interior. She's a whole lot of fun to drive. But, I'm definitely looking into some mods to get a little more punch out of her. While being a V6 seems to be the only real drawback, I must confess that I'm impressed with the fuel milage vs. power.

The only problems I've faced so far are a door skin that's seperated from the door frame, whick I've already repaired and a minor leak in the hydraulic pump for the convertible top, which appears to be an inexpensive fix. I'd say that on that model car, we're in good shape.

I'm glad to be here and looking forward to sharing more with and learning from you guys.

Rev'ed up,
-Kevin

P.S. I'll get more pics up later...late and super tired.

Welcome to the site.

You got a sweet deal..That baby was pampered...

Like you said, with the family,it is practical.

You get the Camaro, the convertible, the fun.....

And with the price of gas never ever going down, you did right...
