Exclamation 1997 Camaro Overheating When Idle, But Not When Driving? HELP PLEASE!!!

I have a 1997 Chevy Camaro 30th Aniversery edition with the 3.8 L V6 Engine in it. For some reason the car will overheat when I am sitting idle (such as sitting in a drive-thru or sitting in traffic) but if I am driving it or rev the engine up to 2,000 RPMs it will start to cool back down for a while. I've already replaced the thermostat and had the radiator flushed. The water pump was replaced last year. Can someone please help me!? It is really getting annoying.

when you had it flushed, did they bleed the system? If not, you might have some air pockets in it. Are you sure your fans are kicking on? If not, check the relay. I'm not sure how the water pumps are in those v6'ers, but you could also check that.

Yeah, They bled the system. This was an ongoing problem before I had the radiator flushed. I'm fairly sure that it is the water pump now for two reasons. 1. The only two things I haven't replaced in the coolant system is the water pump and the radiator itself and 2. The water pump had a catastrophic failure on the way home from getting the new water pump (if that is not irony i don't know what is lol). Hopefully that was the problem all along. Will update when i get it replaced.

Yeah, a pump going out with cause a little heat rise, but not as much as you say I don't think.
