Good old L39 V8. It could be from the factory like that. I think it packed 120 HP. There is a motor worth some money. Whats the scrap rate now?
lol not wanting to replace like it how it is and going to try and keep it all original, i was just curious on current value since kelly blue book doesnt go back that far, and yes it is a factory original and was discontinued in 1982

In terms of Value it is really hard to say. As a greneral rule non-Z28s from that era do not do well. I have seen some pretty nice all orginal non Z cars sits for sale for a very long time. Most purest love an all orginal car but very few will collect a 70's car with a 120hp.
We would need pictures and need to know the condition. If it has t-tops and is in amazing condition 3-4K would be my guess.

That's right,I forgot about the 262,a buddy of mine had a black Monza Spyder with a 262 4 spd, kind of a cool little car actually IMO.
Put a 383 in one of those and watch out baby!

well they sure were heavy lil cars... got rear ended real bad. totaled it out and bought me a '76 camaro. think it had a 305 in it (was sweet till it was rear ended and totalled out). after that I found out what the true meaning of lemon was when I bought a new (my first brand new car) cavalier Z24... I was sooooo happy when that POS was totalled out. swore off chevys for the longest time.
Lighter than a 2nd gen Camaro by 700-800lbs,about 2700lbs give or take a li'l depending on year and model.
Some had a 350 from the factory.
