1968 Restoration
Hey everyone. I just picked up a 1968 Camaro (standard model I believe) and I am getting ready to start an almost complete restoration on it. I am sure I will be asking you guys alot of questions along the way. It has been awhile since I restored a vehicle and it was an old Super Beetle anyway so this is going to be much more technical. Not a seasoned mechanic but this will just be a project to work on since I finally graduate from college next semester, finally time to start one.
The bad
The 327 needs to be checked because it was apparently fouling plugs when they put it up about 5 years ago.
Previous owner's son decided to work on it and gutted it then lost interest so most bolts and small parts are missing.
Needs new rollpan, front fenders, hood, bumper, etc
The good
Only $2500
Oh and about me. Dirt Boy (Heavy equipment operator) Air Force stationed at Hurlburt Field, Fl. with my wife and 2 yo son.
Thank you all in advance for the help. I know I will need it

Welcome and the plugs fouling are likely a fuel issue. It was probably over carbureted. A 600 cfm would be plenty for a 327 unless it is a race motor. Enjoy the car throughout the whole process. Year one, and probably summit, may have a lot of replacement body parts. There is a huge market for parts for these cars so I'm sure you wont have too much trouble getting a hold of what you need.
Thanks alot for the welcome and the help. I am not sure as to what has been done to the car already because the motorwork was done by a previous owner to the one I bought it from. He said it was a 327 but not factory, said he thinks it was bored .60 over, mild cams, and thats it. I would like to keep the 327 because I feel that it is less common than the 350s so it is more unique. The problem is just not knowing anything about the motor. Ill hopefully be able to start tearing it down in the next few weeks and would like to update the restoration often. Thanks again
Hello and welcome aboard. Def check out NPD for body parts. We stuck with them for quality and consistancy and price. Would love to see some pics and interested in watching your build. Will help me to finaly get mine finished.
There are several of the ground up builds I looked back at, including yours. You have made great progress already so now it is time for me to "catch up". I do not get to pick the car up until next saturday but then it is all progress from there. I already have a ton of questions but I want to see what I have gotten myself into first.
One quick question first, I know I have to have 3 posts before I get normal access to the forum and I have posted 6 or 7 posts now and it still says 1. Is there a certain type of post I have to use to get more? I want to look at more threads and photo albums but I can't.

Your initial thread counts as one I believe but posts in the welcome area and off topic dont count. You have to post in other areas you have access to. If you want to be able to post pics you have to create a photobucket account and then copy and paste the [img] tag so the pics will show up.
