RE: wont start
ok i tested the coil, ignition module, and ignition switch... i think what i found was one part of the coil is bad.. the secondary terminal? does that make sense? it is supposed to have 5000-7000 ohms of resistance and im only getting maybe a tenth of that on the machine. will changing the coil solve this problem? or could it be something else?

Ummm.... What terminals are you checking ohms? Usually when checking the coil you are checking for DC voltage to be at 12volts. Your distributor puts off a wave patternand I dont recal checking the module with Ohms.
About the only thing you can check on the ignition with an ohms meter is the resistance of the plug wires unless of course you are trying to hunt down a cut or damaged wire. Even then you would have to check for power at the coil first.

i have a haynes repair manual and it says this is the "secondary terminal". im not really good with electrical parts or what have you, but thats what it says. and it uses ohms. it says something wierd like one of the terminals should be between 0.3 and 1.2 ohms. on this one i got about 1.1, so thats ok i guess. the other said to set the meter higher and you should get 5000-7000 ohms and i got about 600. im kinda clueless, just followin the haynes manual.
