the 94 is obd1 but is different from the 93 or 95 you can not flash codes like a 93 but does use a obd1 scanner unfortunatly it has to be compatable. test your evap system, test fuel pressure regulator and fuel pressure. how old are your 02 sensors, have your injectors ever been cleaned and flow tested? check the maf to see if its dirty. check all plugins for bent or damged pins. i want to remove the egr function as well as the smog/air system. are there issues when doing that? ive heard conflicting info. im going to do the coolant bypass soon and want to do the other stuff at the same time. so how to i figure out what code reader will scan a 94? do generic ones normally not scan a 94 car? |
I checked the iat and ect today everythings fine. 5volts to each. is there a way to test the mass air meter? i still need to check the injectors and o2 sensors

10 mpg of course means that you are consuming more fuel either your tires are way underinflated (Obama told us to check our air pressure) your brakes are dragging you do all driving within LA or NYNY someone is stealing your gas your gas station's meters aren't calibrated and you're only getting 1/2 the fuel for which you are being charged your fuel tank is leaking your tranny is slipping so badly that you are turning 4500 rpm going 10 mph or you are running very rich if it's the latter, then chances are an O2 sensor isn't behaving you can find a wealth of data by capturing a data log. Then, if you want it tuned, especially to delete EGR or even VATS, after you capture the log, send it to Solomon at www.lt1pcmtuning.com and he will tune your car as well as help you interpret the data |
Can I make the cable, as in solder in a usb cable to my aldl wires?

please allow me to perform a CBA for you (cost-benefit-analysis) buy the cable from aldl and also tuning service from solomon for a whopping $130 total you claim to only get 10mpg and since I'm confident that you aren't using cheap gas, but are using premium, it's about $3.20 per gallon let's say you drive 250 miles per week which is 25 gallons x $3.20 = $80 per week fuel if you get a tune, and that's all that is needed then you should see around 18mpg at 250 miles per week is approx 14 gallons of fuel x $3.20 per gallon = $44.80 per week or $35.20 savings per week. You achieve payback in less than 1 month even if you paid 2 months finance charge on a credit card for the $130 purchase then let's explore the annual savings and assume month # 1 pays for the cable and tune, then month 2-12 is incremental savings or 48 weeks x $35.20 = $1,689.60 additional savings just in year one so, to be brutally honest with you, do you really want to **** around over a cable or do those cold hard numbers slap you in the face and tell you what you should be doing??????????? Sorry if this seems harsh but when you look at the above, the correct method is obvious. |
Its not a daily driver. I have maybe driven 100 times since may when I bought it. I already spent hours reading stuff on that site and have software.ive put a tranny in it, the thing is costing me, and why buy a cable if I dont need to? You like payn for stuff you can make? And ive seen guys soler in serial connector on plenty of cars.basically you dont know and they arent telling or no one would buy a cable, lol

so lets say i order the cable from aldlcable and i cant scan my car with a innova brand scanner, whats to say i dont have a problem that will not allow the cable to work either?
if i can get some more clarification as far as why the innova brand cant connect to my ecu then ill order the cable , but i hate to order when moneys tight and find out i have a greater issue like a bad ecu, and there was a hypertech piggy back on this car so i wouldnt be surprised if my ecu has issues and are some cables not compatible with certain software? is the and advantage using a serial cable instead of a usb? like say serial with usb adapter. my laptop has no serial its too new |
i just ordered the cabl form aldlcable. hopefully it works.
now if i can just learn how to use tunning software. whats the easiest for making changes? |

And then, the tune is customized for your vehicle. he'll tell you in a heartbeat if it looks like you may have other issues such as O2's, exhaust leak, other sensors |
i was hesitant on ordering it since i dont know if theres an issue with my ecu or the connection to the aldl port. but its ordered and i should have the cable and stuff by friday.
theres alot i want to learn here, especially since i mess with hondas alot and some of the same stuff applies to the obd1. and i really just love messing with cars period Wow they already shipped my order! the guys at aldlcable/obd diagnostics are great. i called and had someone right away on the fone and got my questions answered fast. if anyone is considering the cable get it from them. i cant wait to start playing with stuff:)

if you think they are good, if you decide to use Solomon for a tune wait until you get a load of his support. I was pleased with how the car was running by the 2nd datalog/tune and he kept wanting to get it perfect. After 1.6 rr's and replacing O2's because of a rich condition, I did a "re-tune" which was only $35 and at the same time i had VATs tuned out.
his customer service is the likes rarely seen. he spoils you i just got some new o2s and turns out my o2 socket isnt deep enough for the sensor! gotta run to harbor freight to return it and get the offset o2 socket |
changed my fuel filter and one o2 sensor so far, the one i pulled out looked kinda green colored, is this normal, its really clean too, bosch brand.green tinted

Replace the Bosch units regardless. Bosch O2s are notorious for dying.
