What Stall Convertor Speed?
I own a 93 Camaro Z28 with the 4L60E. Since I have added all the upgrades I have went through three transimissions. I am on my fourth one right now. Can anyone tell me if changing my stall would help and if so which speed? I have also seen some that were lock up or non lock up. Which would be best?

RE: What Stall Convertor Speed?
Good looking car, congrats.
Before thinking about high stall converter, you should be thinking about beefing up your tranny. This transmission is marginal with the LT1, and if it is pushed hard it won't last long. There are many companies that that beef these things up so that they can take the pounding.
A loose converter is not gping to help because by the time the transmission shifts it will be all revved up and just as tight as the stock unit. In addition, bacause of the additional slippagr, the transmission will tend to run run hot in traffic and burn itself out even faster.
Being that you have overdrive, you could try lower rear end gears, something around 4.11, this will take some of the load off the tranny and probably make your car quicker. Of course, now you most likely need drag slicks, and hopefully your rear end will hold toghether.

RE: What Stall Convertor Speed?
get a 2500 stall converter
get higher performance bands, shift kit, tranny cooler, sun shell, clutches and get it built good. Sonnax has a nice 15% wider kevlar band. They also make nice transmission valves. Reybestos has good performance clutches.
