Default what size tires can i fit under my 94 z

Hey I just upgraded to stagerd c5 wheels (18 in back 17 up front) and was wondering if anyone knew how wide I could go without rubbing.. I really wanted mickeys but can only find them in 305/35 and 45s and I believe those would rub. I'm also finding the nitto 285/40 nt05r and thinking these might fit.. if anyone could help me out I'd appreciate it.

My buddy had nitto 305/45/18's in the rear and the wheel wells had to be beaten in so that they could fit. Plus they nearly threw his transmission out. Id go as small as i can but still get the best tire size for your driving. i have 275/55/17's in my rear and 255/24/17 in the front. I think youd be safe with a 275/45/18 in the rear.

I'd go with the NT05 at 285/40. They should fit nicely. I'm not sure about the MTs.

My Friend did the same swap and we needed to "talk" the wheel wells into leaving the tires alone. This was done with a big hammer and a set of spacers. I think they were 1/4" and after that no rubbing. He is running the same size tires that a Corvette would use.
