that's actually a small cam for a 383, so i'd guess you will be sitting more around 385rwhp. any reason you went with a cast crank? a lot of people have had BAD luck with cast cranks, i hope you don't become one of them.

anyway, is ALL you've done is motor work?

yea all ive done is motor work. Ive seen a lot of guys run my cam in a 383 and see 400 - 430... The biggest hyd roller that comp even offered was the xfi 292, well I should say that I found at least. and when I talk to them on the phone along with a few other peeps they said that my cam made the most power (out of the ones they offered). what all would I have to do to switch to a solid roller?

I really dont know why I went with a cast crank. Price was right, its good too a sold 600 anyways. Besides I still have a 2 bolt main which im sure you know is not good for much more than that. I may run a little nitrous maybe turbo just to reach 600. Not sure.

i would NOT run nitrous on a cast crank. absolutely not. and i know what it SAYS they're good for, but i'd be shocked if it held up for 600.

a 2 bolt block isn't a bad deal. i know a lot of guys running lots of power on a 2 bolt block. granted, a 4 bolt block or splayed mains are much better.

as far as your cam, i could find you several cams that are bigger than that. i'm not sure who you talked to at comp but i think you got some bad info there. also, many people custom grind cams that fit better with your goals and applications.

that said, you WILL still make some power, so you're going to have to look into upgrading the tranny. if you're auto, FLT transmission is who i'd look into. if manual, a better clutch. adjustable rear lower control arms, torque arm, subframe connectors. with lots of hard launches, you better start saving for a 12 bolt rear end

herron performance is who i usually deal with. i know he used to have the fastest bolt-on record, not sure if that still stands. www.herronperformance.com

i've talked things over with sam strano before and he's a good guy with a lot of knowledge. www.stranoparts.com

as far as what you will need, it depends on what your goals are for the car. street car or track car? i'd suggest you sit down and think about what you plan to use it for, and then get in contact with one of those 2 and pick their brains on what they think you'd need. they're both good guys and won't sell you anything you don't need.

cast crank was the first mistake(won't rob power, but isn't so reliable)

small cam

who ported your heads? do they have experience in porting LT1 heads?

and i also forgot to mention that you should do gears sometime. amazing how much gears can wake your car up
