You won't need to weld it, but you either have to weld it or clamp it, either way(my headers utilize band clamps to get into the Y). If you're looking for a true dual, you won't be able to fit 3 inch all the way back, you simply can't due to ground clearance issues(that's why true dual on a 3rd or 4th gen doesn't work). If you're getting a muffler shop to do all the bending and installation of the headers, get ready for a big labor bill.

true dual(meaning the y pipe) isnt good for us? should i just stick with the way mine is now?

dual exhaust is two pipes all the way back there isn't room to do it in front of rear end that's why its a two into one back to two

so then its kinda like an "H" ?
so it goes: headers, then then the y-pipe conects to that. two pipes rune of each side of the y-pipe and goes to a muffler with dual inlet and and the tipps come off the outlet? where would the catlatic convertr be in this?

or you can do the same thing with out the muffler and addcats in the place of the muffler?
sory for the dumb questions but i realy wanna learn this

The exhaust that fits goes from the headers into a Y, depending on your year, you either have one cat after the pipes Y together into one, or you have 2 cats before they Y together. If you go with headers, you'd be dumb to run a single cat. So, you'd have Long Tube headers that you'd purchase(Hooker, Kooks etc.) and a Y pipe from the manufacure you purchased the headers from to insure it fits. This Y would need to have the cats in it. Then you could either install the header and Y setup yourself(give youself a good amount of time), or you could take it to the muffler shop and have them install it. Once that is in, you can either have them weld the stock midpipe back on(you'd have the muffler/tips and the part of the pipe that goes over the axle), or you could replace the whole midpipe with a new cat back exaust system. Do you follow what I'm saying or would you prefer a picture?
