Default What to do with exhaust?

Here is where I'm at. I'm looking to get a louder exhaust note out of the car that is more aggressive. I was going to purchase headers. I found a nice set for 500 with coating. But it would have cost me 700 to have them installed. Plus my friend, who is a mechanic told me the headers cause little problems like burning the plug wires. So here is my new thought. I already have a Magnaflow catback. Thats it right now. So I was thinking I would hollow out the muffler then put it back on and basically have no muffler.

Has anyone done this? Or have any suggestions?

Thanks.

headers are a great idea...you won't be disappointed...that's what i would do(and have done) if it were me. if you run the wires right then you shouldn't burn any plug wires

Yea, headers would be great. But I don't have 1200 dollars to buy them and get them installed.

Has anyone hollowed out their muffler before? Because that's what I'm leaning toward? I wanted to know how hard it is to weld the piece you cut off back together.

yeah it will make it louder...its welding...how good are you at welding it? if you're going to hollow it out, why not just put a piece of pipe there and sell the muffler? it will be loud by the way

The magnaflow is a nice sounding system. Do you have a CAI installed?

Think about this, you ca get some Pacesetter coated long tubes and Y pipe for about what it would cost you to have your plugs changed at a shop.

Why do you "need" the exhaust to be louder?

If you know how to cut the exhaust pipe and weld it back on after you're done hollowing it out, then it's easy.

So today we took off the Magnaflow muffler and put a 3 inch turn down where it used to connect. I still have stock manifolds and stock cats, so hopefully it's not hurting anything. Sounds nice too.

Anyone else done this ?
