Weird Problem Starting

Every once in a while my 95z lt1 wont start. I have a fully charged battery and starter is about 6 months old. What happens is when i try to start the car all i hear is a click and thats it. If I disconnect the battery for about 1/2 hour and put it back on the car will start up no problem. Any Ideas.

Thanks
Ryan

i would suggest replacing the ignition switch

to me it sounds like your battery terminals are bad or possibly loose or corroded. thats usually what happens when you just get a click and everything dies but you know the battery has power. i bet when you turn the key back off and then to the on position again all the lights come back on but trying to start gives you a click and everything is dead again, i would clean or replace the cable ends and see if that helps,

I've got a new battery and new terminal ends . battery is clean.

Try hitting the solenoid with a screwdriver and change the battery terminals. I've have had the same problem with my 5.0.

does your security light come on when it is not starting if it is just wait for it to go off and try agian mine does this every once in a while after that i would try and get a key from the dealer

My 95Z does the same thing. Sometimes I turn off the ignition, then try again and it starts by itself and sometimes I need to get under it and play with the connections on the back of the starter motor. Feels like something is loose there, but I can't figure out exactly what. Anyone?

just a suggestion. to tighten the wires you will most likely haver to take the starter lose so you can have access to them. either the wires or the start itself could be lose. in some of the old cars iv had the starter bolts were lose and did not get a good ground sometimes.
