water pump drive seal
anybody know how to change a water pump drive seal on a 93 Z28. got a chandler motorsports cap and rotor and figured id better change the leaky one while i can. planning a long trip to ohio from memphis...anything i should be aware of?
used ebay opti new chandler motorsports cap and rotor vent mod new fuel filter new wires new plugs new oil new air filter any help would rule! thanks |
take the timing cover off and on the backside take a flathead place it on the edge of the seal and smack it with a hammer... while your at it get a whole timing cover gasket set comes with a new water pump opti and crank seal also a new timing cover gasket

Don't take the timing cover off, if it isn't leaking. No need to fix what ain't broke, unless you like opening extra cans of worms. When I did mine, I didn't even mess with the crank hub or seal, as it was fine too. There's a trick to getting the new water pump seal on. To get the old seal out, there is a slot at the top of the opening where the seal fits into the cover, and you can pry it out with a screwdriver. i bought a 94 Z all it needed was an opti then i got it running and found it needed a trans so i decided to rebuild the motor i tore it all down gutted the interior sanded down the body basically took the whole car apart and all it needed was an opti big can of worms
