I have a 95 Z28 and it is in the closing stages of being done. Today my builder set up the valvetrain and when he went to put the valve covers on they would not fit. He said its because of my rockers are hitting those tri-angle looking suports in the stock valve covers. Can I just cut those out or doI need new valve cover. If i do need new ones because i went with AFR heads theyare set up for either center bolt or standard SBC.

You can cut them out but you need to know exacly how to do it or you'll have problems with the rockers still hitting. You can go with raised valve covers to clear the rockers but then you're alternator will not fit. The alternator will hit on top of the valve covers. I took the easy way out and welded a small bracket to extend the alternator about an inch and I had to get a belt that was a little longer. It works out great and I've had no problems with it and I had it done at my work so it didn't cost me anything. I wish I had pics but I'm at work right now and the car is resting at home.

You can cut one side of the support brackets and be fine. Somewhere I remember seeing the correct places to cut, maybe I can find it for you...
