A engine is only as good as it's biggest bottleneck, which if I'm not mistaken for the LT1, it was the heads.

honestly, save your money and buy an LS1 car, you will be miles ahead with your goal of 500whp NA.

A 500whp LTx car can be done, but its not going to be easy or cheap. I'd bet you'd have 15k in a setup to get it to run that hard and survive, not to mention at that point, you're only option would be to throw n20 over top of it because the compression ratio for boost would be too high. Also keep in mind you'd need some type of aftermarket engine management as the stock LTx computers only allow you to rev to 7200ish. A Moser 9"/12 bolt will be a good start, but what about a torque arm? LCAs? You gonna try to put 500whp down on stock shocks/springs? You'll need a panhard bar, to finish off the rear. Ditto for stock size wheels/tires? Consider the price of a new driveshaft also, along with the 1350 yokes you'll need. Fuel System wise, a single 255 walboro will provide enough fuel for ~550whp, so that will be ok, injectors, fuel rails, fuel lines, fittings etc. You'll need a nice long runner intake manifold to make the power you need up top along with a VERY good TB.

Thats a LOT of money right there before you even consider a trans/converter, tuning, race gas to accompany the high CR needed, not to mention head work, dyno time, testing etc

Its not as easy as just throwing a bunch of parts at it, otherwise everyone would do it

LS1 will be cheaper to build as many here have already stated. If u just want power, change engines. If you want ur original engine, well, their you have it.

Check out Advanced inductions some of their combos seem to be capable of making good power and they claim to still be streetable. Advanced Induction - LSX Heads & Cam Kits

The link is to their LTx page not LSx
