need a little more detail on what is done before any real info can be given.

What heads? Cam? Rockers? What size pistons? What fuel are you running? Why 500hp?

500 at the crank would be way easier than 500 at the wheels.

I'm trying to find out why he wants "500hp"

that seems to be the new norm for what people want, the problem is, at that level on motor, you're going to be making sacrifices or spending LOTS of money to get there. Not to mention all the supporting mods you're going to need at that level. A stock 10 bolt isn't going to take that much power, nor is a stock t56/clutch or 4L60e, you need a pretty solid fuel system also none of that is cheap

especially given the past problems sarge has had. 500 RWHP NA on an LT1 is not going to be very street friendly

Just do a forged, low compression 355c.i. build with boost and all other supporting mods. Much more street friendly and will still net more than enough power. My buddy's dad has a 2000 WS6 with a t-76 turbo that makes 622 RWHP and he drives it 4 days out of the week. Still idles smooth and just rides overall smooth for how built it is.

my current mods
cc306 cam 1.6rr K&N CAI 58mm tb intake done by Lloyd 36lbs injectors pacesetter LT electric. I think that's it.
as far as issues. I gotta give it gas when I start it up or it'll just crank. and when it sits for a day or two or when it's cold it kinda sputters when I first start up and pull off. but it's a daily driver no real issues only gettin about 8mpg though.
why 500hp? seems like an achievable amount wit an lt1. if it was possible or an ls1 I would b goin for 600hp+.
I'm bout to deploy in a couple months I'm single wit no bills. so this is gonna b my toy/gift/project that ima spend a nice chucnk of money on.
what I want to do is get 500hp wit jus the motor the then possibly add some type of forces induction. my tranny will b built and I want a mosher 12 bolt rear end to handle it. I want a beast. I got it posted on craigslist for 3k. if it sells ima go ls1 and built that. but if I don't sell ima do get what I can out of it.
