The 93 Camaro is different from the rest of the 4th gen cars. The transmission is a 700R4/4L60, not the electronic 4L60E like the newer cars. The only thing that the PCM controls, in the 93, is the TCC application.
A shift kit will work, but be careful as to what stage you choose, as the shift can get pretty nasty and PIA in normal driving. Also specify that you have a 93 model.

The transmission in 93 models isnotocomputer controlled. Tuning a 93 PCM will do nothing for transmission shifting, except fot TCC application control.

Get a kit that is for street use, it will give firmer shifts without hurting your neck.

If he were to install the shift kit wouldn't he need to put in a higher stall converter also?

Not necessary, but it will make part throttle shifts more bearable, and also get the car off the line quicker. Also the high stall creates a lot of heat, and requires an aux trans cooler.

Simio....I believe the 93 has the electronic version of the 700r4....the 4L60E....basically the same transmission except more electrical control and crap to break.....LOL....gotta love technology.

The 93 does not use the 4L60E, it uses a 4L60 which is the same as a 700R4. If you have a TV cable from the transmission to the throttle body, you have 4L60. The electronic 4L60E does not use a TV cable. This is getting hard to explain.
