Default transmission bar

ok i have a question about this bar that connects to the transmission and runs to the rear end. what is that black bar called. i would i know if that goes bad. i bought a hayne mauel book. it does not say anything about this bar. also where could i get one of these bars beside the dealership prices.

the Drive Shaft? is that the bar your talking about or is it another one that i don't know about.

The bar you metioned is called a torque arm & keeps the rear axle in place. You can find stock units at salvage yards, or you can get after market heavy duty units from many sources, including Jegs & Summit. Outside of actually getting bent or broken, the only thing that usually goes bad is the rubber cushion at the transmission end of the bar.

thanks for the info z28pete. i think it that rubber cushion that i need. is that a difficult job to change myself.

Not that hard, but easier with a helper. Also change the transmission mount while you are there, because it ususally goes bad also.
