will a 97 z71fivespeedtrans, fit a 96 lt1?

 

im not really sure, but with a manual transmission you should really stick with a 6 speed, 5 speeds were only on the v6s, you could try it but im not sure if a 5 speed would hold up as well

 

I'm pretty sure it's not a straight forward job. Will it eventually work, probably, but is it worth it, probably not. I believe they have a different bell housing, different input shaft, potentially more, but I'm not quite up to snuff on my 6er equipment.
