I have a 96 camaro with auto and V6, i need to rebuild trans, have any of you used the transmaxx or pioneer kits from rockauto? Are they any good

 

Sorry bro, we do not have many, if any trans Rebuild techs or DIY's that rebuild transmission. Maybe Gary?

You said in your other post you had someone to help you. He is the one you should be talking to. Keep in mine trans kits only come with normal wear items. You may need additional none wear parts. Personally I would not order a kit before I knew what was wrong this the trans. You may get it a part and find out it needs to much to be worth fixing. This is common in transmission that have overheated. A couple of cracks in a shell and a planetary gear set and you are looking at $1000 in parts. Throw in a worn valve body and you cost of the rebuild becomes greater then a brand new GM trans.

I think Craby just went through it with is V6 trans and it was working when he sent it to be rebuilt.

 

yep i would have been better off picking one up from a place that sells rebuilts although i did get some heavy duty parts that dont come with standard rebuild. if you dont have the specialty tools or know someone that does your better off having a reputable shop do it or just get another one thats been gone through or a good used one. gotta have a special took for just about everything and the cost for them would most likely be more than cost of trans. you may be looking at more than the car is worth. you take out and install rebuild is 1800-2500. add about 500 to have good shop remove and install..
