Since I got my 94 Z28, in any gear other than 4th, if I let off the gas it drops back to idle and I can then rev it like it was in neutral until I hit the RPM that that particular speed would require. I talked to one of my instructors (famous racer from upstate NY) and he said that someone had changed the fluid in it and the grittiness of the new fluid is wearing out the clutches. Ive since put 7k on the car with no other problems out of the tranny other than that. Is this something I should be concerned about or no big deal? Is it the clutches or could the T/C be messing up?

i dont think the trany is going to blow but it does have problems. if it were a 700r then i would say its the tv cable needs adjusting. but u have a 4l60e which does not have a tv cable. im thinkin the trans computer is messing up. have u tried to have it scanned to see what that says?

Ive scanned it with the tool at my highschool and nothing other than my coolant sensor was out of wack (reading 302 degrees). NADC for some reason doesnt have an OBDI scanner for some reason so i cant scan it here. Guess the first thing to do with it is get it out of impound =/
