so lets say 15 amps that's roughly .3 amps, assuming a 15-20 amp fuse is used in the wiring.

Don't forget that with an electric water pump, your not going to move as much water as you would with a gear driven pump. IMO, the electric water pump isn't worth the cost.

+1^

I guess it depends on your application. But I've heard 'experiences' where the EWP doesn't work as well at higher rpm's as MWP (obviously because the MWP is driven by the motor).

Personally, I had to change the water pump once. It's not that big a deal. I'm by no means a certified mechanic and I pulled it off in about 2-3 hours by myself with basic tools.

I work with eletronics all day, I trust the MWP way more than I trust the EWP. Electric motors burnout, fuses blow, wiring fails...so I think the chances for EWP failure are just as likely as the MWP.

To free up a 'tiny' amount of HP for the price of EWP, I think $$ is better spent elsewhere in modding your car. Just my 2 cents...

You could run a higher amp-alternator to help with the extra load of the EWP...but again, that's extra $ for how much extra gain in hp?

the reason the electric pump is used is there is no other way to gain. once all ways are used a fella does what it takes to hain that .001. as was said if you have another way to gain more for less bucks then do that first. if you already have the pump and are set on installing then just use a plug to fill the hole and some rvt to insure it wont leak. i think they make plugs for that hole that fit into where the seal goes. you may be able to find a soft plug that will work.
