So somebody give me the lowdown on all the different optisparks, or a link if this has already been done please. Ive seen them from around $100 to over $600. Why is one better than another, and which ones to stay away from. Also, solid reasons are preferable. Thanks guys!

I got the house Oreillys brand at @$200. Apparently the chinese have figured out how to make these, thus the lower price ones you see on ebay. I take it those can be hit or miss. The really expensive ones (like MSD) are I guess built better and you are paying for the name. I went middle of the road, not the cheapest, but not the most expensive.

that would be one of the Chinese built ones and possibly from the same ODM as Chandler uses. It's not a high demand item so there won't be a lot building them. You may find a bunch of places selling them and even claiming it to be their own "design" or product but it's a pure OEM play slapping a label on the same product as the other guy

with that aside, what is there to lose, try it. The worst that could happen is it doesn't work. The best is that you save $100-$200 which aint too shabby

Well, ive decided to go ahead and let my friendd dads shop check it out before i spend a bunch of money. He seems pretty confident that its some trivial thing causing my issue. Might as well find out for sure before i tear it apart.

"trivial" is a relative term

to a teenager it might mean one thing while to a seasoned vet it may mean another

let's hope it's just a cable

i ordered a GM performance opti at the recommendation of most 4th gen owners i know. the MSDs and accels are ok but the gm performance apparently runs higher capacity (i don't know this for fact just what i have been told) and is has less problems than the others. (i know this for fact)

Sorry for the delay in updating. The car is still broke down in my yard. Somebody tried stealing my friends trailer and tore up the hitch, so its unusable at the moment. And to be honest, I really dont have the money to screw with it right now. Im really getting discouraged about getting it fixed. Starting to seem like a money pit.
