Default Thinking about buying a LT1

So i found a nice little 1993 LT1 with a six speed manuel but i want to know what to look out for. I don't have a bias for ford or chevy so i don't want anyone telling me its a good buy just because its a camaro. I just want the pros and the cons of the car thanks.

you take care of the engine, it will take care of you. it will probably end up having an intake leak as many of them do. optispark is the distributor...i'm sure someone has a picture of it on here somewhere...its very touchy and is about 500 bucks for a new one. some engine work can be a pain such as changing spark plugs because there isn't much room in the engine bay

Im actually in the process of buying a 97 z28. Pretty decent condition, only has 100k... not to bad for a 97. It was female owned... and it's a six speed. Interior needs to be redone... and I plan on painting it... but it drives perfect. I had her drive it because I was wondering about her habits... turned out she drove the thing damn good... but if anybody knows any good sites for parts or mods etc... please let me know.

well, I'm not wanting to throw a ton of money into this car you know? I work at a motorcycle dealership which happens to be owned by the Mealey family... if you live in Florida you've probably heard of them... anyway I can do a lot to this car for a decent price because I get all the parts at cost. But what I was thinking of doing more than anything is camming it. I've heard a ton about the hot cams kits and all of that but I didn't really know too much about them... also I'm not sure how a motor with 100k will take that. Any advice?

Also can someone please explain the difference between and LT1 and an LT4... I keep hearing similarities between them as far as cams go... but I haven't the slightest clue.

cams would be the same...different heads and intake really...doing a cam swap requires quite a few upgrades to be done before you get there. headers, cold air intake, catback, gears, if you're auto a good torque converter, then you can look into a cam. if you put a cam in before that you will be starving it and not getting what you want completely

Ahh... I see. Well you've helped already. Now I know what to look for. What's that car look like without the cover??
